The Brussels Diplomatic Academy and the Belgian Branch of the International Law Association

invite you to

Energy Transition Diplomacy – addressing shortcomings of the external dimension of European Energy and Climate Policies

with

Amb. Dr Urban Rusnák

The EU is an energy import dependent peninsula of Eurasia, despite all its efforts and regulations adopted over the past decade it has been sleepwalking into deep energy and climate havoc. The mantra of mutually beneficial interdependence hasn’t survived the ongoing geopolitical clash.

An energy cohabitation with Russia across widening geopolitical rifts has proven to be impossible.

Seven years after COP21 we look unlikely to meet the Paris climate commitments.

Are we safer with other energy suppliers?

Can we catch up with curtailing emissions while looking for power, heating and cooling as before?

Join the Brussels Diplomatic Academy in conversation with Amb Dr Urban Rusnák to consider these questions and future approaches to energy transition diplomacy.

When: 18 October 2022, 17.30-19.00
