Biography:

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Weil is Professor at the University of Antwerp and Antwerp Management School. At Antwerp Management School, she serves as Associate Dean for International Outreach and Academic Director of the Executive PhD programme (a joint programme with the University of Antwerp). She also coordinates the Academic China–Europe Network across both institutions, fostering collaboration between Chinese and European universities.

Before entering academia in 2007, she worked as Managing Director in consulting firms in Germany, France, and the UK. She previously held positions as Research Fellow at the Brussels Institute for Contemporary China Studies (BICCS) and as Professor, Department Chair, and Associate Dean at Vesalius College/Free University Brussels. She also completed research stays at Tongji University (Shanghai) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (Suzhou).

Her research is situated at the intersection of international political economy, international relations, and international business, with a focus on EU–China relations, geopolitics and economic statecraft, security narratives and securitization, and lobbying and interest representation (including in China). Her recent publications include work on China’s economic statecraft and EU policy change, Taiwan/semiconductor geopolitics and the Silicon Shield debate, and China’s discourse and threat narratives in contemporary security contexts.

She also teaches and supervises research design and methodology in doctoral and executive doctoral education, and teaches international business and politics at the University of Antwerp.
