Dr. Sarah Karinge is a Kenyan Affiliate scholar at the POLI Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Solvay Business School, at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences; a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a post graduate bachelor’s degree in Economics (Gas Bedrifskunde) from the VUB; a post graduate bachelor’s degree in Information Science; and a BA(Honors)degree in Public Administration from Panjab University, India.  Dr. Karinge started her career as a civil servant for the Kenyan Government at the Ministry of Industry before transferring to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and subsequently to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), a parastatal body under the Ministry of Health. In KEMRI, she served as liaison between health professionals, lay publics, and other stakeholders in the health service sector.  She then joined Tetra Pak, a Swedish multinational food packaging firm where she was responsible for internal and corporate communication policy. In her role she worked closely with Government departments, the dairy sector, and agriculture related agencies and academic institutions.  She has since worked concurrently as a researcher and has carried out various consultancy assignments in the Development Field for European Consulting Agencies and for some organs of the United Nations.  Between 2004 and 2016, Dr. Karinge undertook the pro bono role of contact person for sub-Saharan African countries at the International School of Brussels.
