Biography:

Philippe Billiet is a Belgian lawyer, arbitrator, mediator and lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), internationally recognized for his expertise in dispute resolution, international arbitration and commercial law. He holds an LL.M. in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick and is Managing Partner of Billiet & Co, a Brussels-based law firm active in complex cross-border disputes and regulatory matters.

A pioneer in the field of mediation, he was among the first practitioners to obtain the European EMTPJ certification and has contributed to the development of mediation and arbitration frameworks in multiple jurisdictions. Philippe serves as arbitrator and mediator for numerous institutions worldwide and has participated in high-profile international disputes involving governments, multinational corporations and diplomatic stakeholders.

Beyond legal practice, he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Brussels Diplomatic Academy and regularly lectures on negotiation, conflict management and dispute resolution strategies. His work bridges academia, diplomacy and legal practice, offering students a uniquely international and practice-oriented perspective. Philippe has received numerous international distinctions recognizing his contributions to arbitration, mediation and cross-border dispute resolution.
