BDA House of Diplomacy Lecture: ‘The New Age of Crypto’

Crypto assets became a financial and legal reality that cannot be ignored anymore.  As an alternative to traditional financial trade instruments and currencies, crypto offered a solution to secure business and commercial agreements in a way that was faster, more efficient and sometimes also less compliant than available traditional alternatives.  Unfortunately, also people, institutions or governments with less honorable intentions, were able to use this new tool to secure certain interests.  The challenge will be to fully understand the possibilities and the limits of crypto, from a legal, financial, but also an economic and diplomatic point of view, in order to keep the advantages on board and to limit or exclude the risks.  The seminar will focus on these aspects and provide insights and tools to better understand this context.
