Short bio:

Anton Comanescu has a Ph.D. in Economics from the ULB (2010) and a master in European Economics from the College of Bruges (2001). Since his graduation in Economics from the Academy of Economic Sciences in Bucharest, he constantly worked in the sphere of central banking and public sector finance, with ramifications to competition policy and EU affairs. Anton worked five years with DG MARKT and DG COMP in Brussels, then, starting in 2009, dealt with the IMF program at the National Bank of Romania.

He is currently engaged in negotiations within the Council of the European Union, on Banking Union files and, in general, on banking and financial sector reforms. The single supervision mechanism, bank recovery and resolution, deposit guarantee schemes, payment systems and money laundering are some of the building blocks he is focused on, in the framework of the new European financial architecture.

Since 1998, Anton lectured at undergraduate and MBA level on Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Investment Strategies, at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romanian Banking Institute (RO), United Business Institutes (Brussels) and City University of Seattle (RO program).
